Does WCS5 require a constant internet connection to stay active?

Does Web Call Server 5 require a constant internet connection? I'd like to test out a trial version of WCS5 on a network that is isolated from the internet, but I'm concerned that it might require a constant connection to Flashphoner licensing servers in order to keep functioning. I imagine the perpetual license wouldn't have any issues once it is activated, but I'd like to test it out first without having to frequently switch between networks during testing.

This is list of requirements for each type of license:

Trial
  • Initial network access for activation (HTTPS)
  • Permanent network access to pool.ntp.org (NTP)
Monthly subscription
Standalone license
  • Initial network access for activation (HTTPS)

Regarding the permanent internet access for the trial & monthly license, how often does WCS5 need internet access or check-in with the license server? Hourly/Daily/Monthly?

Once the Standalone license is activated it does not require internet access anymore.

Thanks Max. Just want to confirm: even if the host reboots or is power cycled, the standalone licensed WCS5 will not require internet access?

Yes. Once the standalone license is activated it is completely offline and does not require internet access and saves state across reboots and power cycled.

Hello,

I have several questions about monthly simple license limitations too:
1.) What happens if the streaming server with Flashphoner simple monthly license is restarted or isn’t connected to the internet at some point when the license is checked?
2.) Simple license doesn’t support SIP functions. Can Wowza Webrtc streams be played using Flashphoner Websocket protocols without SIP functions? Without those functions, is it possible to records Webrtc streams by Flashphoner from iOS versions which support Webrtc and then play them by Webrtc or Websocket browsers?

Hello
What happens if the streaming server with Flashphoner simple monthly license is restarted
Restarts do not affect any license functionality.
Can Wowza Webrtc streams be played using Flashphoner Websocket protocols without SIP functions?
SIP functions means functions where SIP protocol is used. The SIP protocol is used in integration with external SIP servers, PBX, telephony services like Twilio, etc.
You cal find all SIP functions in the docs:
1. SIP integration
https://docs.flashphoner.com/display/WCS52EN/Streaming+video+and+SIP+integration+functions
2. WebRTC - SIP
https://docs.flashphoner.com/display/WCS52EN/WebRTC-SIP+gateway+functions

Other functions are Streaming functions (including streams from Wowza)
