Video stream shows a white screen on Chrome 88 - Android 10

Hello,

Since yesterday we have started receiving some complaints of users reporting white screen in the video player on Chrome 88 - Android 10. Since it is a recent Chrome version, it could be a fresh bug but we could not reproduce it in a device using the same versions. We have many users on Android 10 and Chrome 88 with no problem as well. It seems this problem is only affecting a few users.
  • We are using the 0.5.28.2753.150 Web SDK version
  • We are using the 5.2.832 Server Version
  • Broadcaster -> Webrtc
  • Viewer -> Webrtc
Device that we have tested and is working fine: Xiaomi Mi A3 - Android 10 - Chrome 88.0.4324.93

Devices with complaints:
  • Xiaomi Red Mi Note 8 - Android 10 - Chrome 88.0.4324.141
  • Motorola One - Android 10 - Chrome 88.0.4324.141
  • Motorola G8 Play - Android 10 - Chrome 88.0.4324.93
Are you receiving reports of this issue? Any idea what it could be?

Good day.

We do not receiving such reports yet.
We also tested Player example in Chrome 88.04324.141 and 88.0.4324.93 on Xiaomi Redmi 9, Samsung S9+ (Android 10) and S10+ (Android 11) and cannot reproduce the issue.
Recently, there was a fix in build 5.2.889 concerning stream playback if broadcaster uses Lovense or other Chromium browser with hardware acceleration enabled on some graphic adapters (for example, Intel 620, 630 and later). Please try to update Origin server and check if the problem still persists.

Hello

We have more than one server, and need wait to move broadcasters between servers, to update process.

We was updating to 5.2.891 version.

We already had updated some servers, but the last ones was updated for a new version, 5.2.892.

We see at releases page:
WCS-3056 | Fixed: Update should not break customers deployment flow
What was changed in this last update?

We have now some servers at 5.2.891, and some at 5.2.892. Is it something we should be concerned about?

The last update 5.2.892 fixes WCS silent update or installation issue. Some customers who deploy WCS automatically using Ansible applies -silent option to install WCS. Then, some customers can't start the service after such update.
If you can successfully run 5.2.891, the issue does not affect you. So, at your point, 5.2.891 and 5.2.892 are equal. You can use both of them.

Hello,

We have updated it to the suggested version 5.2.889 but it did not fixed the issue. We are still receiving complaints of white screen from users on Android and Chrome 88.

Are you aware of this problem?

Thank you,

We have updated it to the suggested version 5.2.889 but it did not fixed the issue. We are still receiving complaints of white screen from users on Android and Chrome 88.
We still cannot reproduce the issue in our test environment.
Please check if the issue can be reproduced in Player example. If not, modify Player example source code minimally to reproduce the issue and send using this form.
Please also check if the issue can be reproduced in Firefox browser on the same device. If not, use Firefox as workaround.
This also can be publishing issue. So please try to reproduce the issue and collect a report including client debug logs for publisher and player as described here and send using this form.
